Kawa is a company that is dedicated to preseving the memory of traditional Tibetan culture and informing all those willing to learn more about this ancient culture. It is important that cultural competence is promoted through many different facets. We are of the opinion that an electronic medium is the most effective way of informing people all over the world. KAWA aspires to be an informational resource to curious people all over the world. Our products are designed to complement this learning process and offer a taste of the culture.

Meaning of KAWA:
To understand Tibet one must first understand KAWA and its importance to Tibetans.  KAWA means snow in Tibetan, as well, it is another name for Tibet. Snow is a constant in the lives of Tibetans and it defines there way of everyday life in a multiplicity of ways, including: agricultural seasons, trade,      nomadic patterns and daily survival. Due to the fact that Tibet is the rooftop of the world snow is a  year round occurrence. The significance of snow emphasizes Tibetan life, the manner in which they live and their land.  We have chosen KAWA as the name of our organization because it is an integral aspect in order to understand Tibetan culture.

Meaning of GAKA:
"GA" and "KA" are the first and second letters of the Tibetan alphabet.

KAWA Mission: We have a long term goal to establish a school in Tibetan areas of China. We realize that education  plays an integral role in the formation of ethnic identity. Tibetan children today have few opportunities for education, and even fewer for a Tibetan education. We would like to provide them with an opportunity to preserve their cultural identity, by building schools that would use Tibetan language to teach about Tibetan culture. A prcentage of each product purchased here will be used to attain  this goal.
